Photoexcitation, the Science of Sight

This illustration depicts the process of photoexcitation, or how the photoreceptors of the eye react to photons of light. The electrochemical signals transmit from the photoreceptors as they react to the presence of photons of light within the retina of the eye to the visual cortex of the brain, where that signal is translated into the image that you see.
